Private Blood Tests in Newcastle – Clinician-Led Testing

Targeted investigations with GP review

We provide private blood tests in Newcastle and the North East for patients who want timely testing with medical oversight. All results are reviewed by a GP and include a brief written clinical summary.

Our panels are structured to investigate specific health concerns, including fatigue (tiredness), iron deficiency, hormone balance, cardiovascular risk and sexual health screening. This service is designed for focused investigation and does not replace ongoing NHS GP care.

GP-Led Test Selection and Review

All blood tests at Northern Medical are reviewed by a GP. If you are unsure which tests are appropriate, we can offer a short telephone appointment to help you choose a focused panel based on your symptoms and medical history.

Our panels are designed in line with current UK clinical guidance and evidence-based practice. We aim to investigate relevant concerns without encouraging unnecessary testing. Results include a clear written medical summary, and follow-up consultation is available where needed.

Clinically focused test panels

Our panels are designed around common clinical presentations, including fatigue, low testosterone, cardiovascular risk and sexual health screening.

We do not offer unfocused β€œfull body” testing. Each panel is structured to answer specific clinical questions without doing unnecessary tests.

Confidential and Discreet

Appointments take place at our Newcastle clinic. We do not send home testing kits. Results are handled confidentially and in line with UK medical and data protection standards.

Not Sure What You Need? Consider a Health Check

If you have broader health concerns, multiple symptoms, or simply want a structured review of your overall health, a Health Assessment may be more appropriate than standalone blood testing.

Private Blood Tests FAQ

What does the Anaemia Panel include?
The Anaemia Panel includes a full blood count (FBC), ferritin, iron studies, vitamin B12 and folate. It is designed to investigate iron deficiency and common causes of anaemia.
The Fatigue Screen (Diagnostic) includes FBC, ferritin, iron studies, thyroid function, vitamin B12 and folate, kidney function (U&E) and liver profile. It is intended to investigate common medical causes of persistent tiredness.
The Fatigue & Metabolic Screen includes everything in the Fatigue Screen, plus HbA1c (diabetes screening), lipid profile (cholesterol) and vitamin D. It provides a broader assessment of metabolic and cardiovascular health in addition to investigating fatigue.
The Male Hormone Panel includes total testosterone, calculated free testosterone, SHBG, albumin, LH, FSH and prolactin. It is used to assess androgen status and investigate symptoms such as low libido, reduced energy or erectile difficulties.
The Cardiovascular Risk Panel includes a lipid profile (LDL and HDL Cholesterol), ApoB and HbA1c. It is designed to assess cholesterol patterns and metabolic risk factors associated with cardiovascular disease.
The Comprehensive STI Screen includes:
Targeted STI tests are also available if you only require specific investigations.
Lp(a), or lipoprotein(a), is a genetically determined cholesterol particle associated with increased cardiovascular risk. It is usually measured once in adulthood, particularly if there is a family history of early heart disease or unexplained elevated cholesterol.
PSA (prostate-specific antigen) is used in prostate cancer risk assessment. It is not recommended for everyone. Testing is generally considered in men over 45–50 or where there are urinary symptoms or relevant family history. It is important to consider the ramifications of a raised PSA, and we can offer a pre-test counselling appointment if required.

Vitamin D deficiency is common in the UK and particularly in the North East. Testing may be appropriate if you have symptoms or risk factors. It is included in the Fatigue & Metabolic Screen and can also be added separately where clinically appropriate.

Most results are available within 2–3 working days from the date your sample is submitted to the laboratory. You will receive a GP-reviewed written summary once results are available.

Turnaround times may vary slightly depending on the specific tests requested.
Yes. Standalone blood tests such as a full blood count (FBC), cholesterol testing, PSA or individual hormone markers can be arranged.

Where multiple or bespoke tests are requested, we may recommend a short telephone consultation to ensure investigations are appropriate and in line with current clinical guidance.
No. This service provides targeted blood testing with medical results review. It does not replace NHS GP care and does not provide ongoing management of chronic conditions unless part of a separate structured programme.
