Version 1.0 · Last updated 19 April 2026

This Cookie Policy explains how Northern Medical Practitioners Ltd ("we", "us", "our") uses cookies and similar technologies when you visit our website at www.northern-medical.co.uk. It sits alongside our Privacy Notice, which describes more broadly how we process personal information.

This policy is intended to help you understand what cookies we use, why we use them, and how you can control them. It is written in plain English; the technical detail of individual cookies is summarised in the table below.

01

What Cookies Are

Cookies are small text files that are placed on your device (computer, tablet, phone) by websites you visit. They are widely used to make websites work more efficiently, to remember your preferences, and to provide information to the site's operator about how the site is being used.

We use the term "cookies" in this policy to include similar technologies such as local storage, tracking pixels, and web beacons, where used.

02

How We Manage Cookies on Our Website

2.1 When you first visit our website, you are presented with a cookie banner. You may: (a) accept all cookies; (b) reject non-essential cookies; or (c) set your own preferences. You can change your choice at any time by clicking the cookie preferences link in the website footer, or by clearing your browser cookies for this site, which will cause the banner to reappear on your next visit.

2.2 We use Google Consent Mode v2. This means that, until you have given consent, analytics and similar non-essential cookies are not set, and Google's services receive only anonymised signals that allow us to understand aggregate website performance without identifying individual visitors.

2.3 Strictly necessary cookies are set without requiring your consent, as the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 (PECR) exempt cookies that are strictly necessary for the functioning of the website.

03

The Cookies We Use

The table below describes the categories of cookies used on our website. Specific cookies and their durations may change over time as we maintain the site; the descriptions below are accurate as at the date of this policy.

Category Purpose Examples / Provider Requires Consent
Strictly necessary Enable core site functions: page loading, form submission, session management, remembering your cookie-preference choice itself. Set by our website platform and hosting. No — PECR exempt.
Analytics Understand how visitors use the website in aggregate: page views, time on page, navigation paths, referral sources. Used to improve the website. We do not use analytics for advertising or to identify individual visitors. Google Analytics (under Consent Mode v2). Yes — only set after you accept.
Functional Remember preferences (for example, accessibility settings) to improve your experience. We use minimal functional cookies. Our website platform. Yes — only set after you accept.
Marketing / advertising We do not currently use marketing or advertising cookies. If this changes, this policy will be updated and your consent will be sought before any such cookies are set. None in use. Would require consent if adopted.
04

Third Parties

4.1 Google Analytics is the principal third-party recipient of anonymised website-usage data, and only where you have consented. Google's own information on how it processes Analytics data is available at support.google.com/analytics/answer/6004245.

4.2 Our website is hosted on a third-party hosting platform. The platform may set strictly-necessary cookies required to operate the site (for example, session identifiers).

4.3 Where we embed content from a third party (for example, a map or a video), that third party may set its own cookies. We avoid such embeds where possible and, where present, flag them on the relevant page.

05

How Long Cookies Last

Cookies are either session cookies (deleted when you close your browser) or persistent cookies (retained for a specified period). Analytics cookies are typically set to expire after a defined period in line with Google Analytics' default retention (currently 14 months). Your cookie-preference choice is retained for 12 months, after which the banner reappears so you can confirm your preferences.

06

How to Control Cookies

6.1 You can control cookies on this website in three ways: (a) through our cookie banner, when you first visit and at any time afterwards via the footer link; (b) through your browser settings, which allow you to block or delete cookies; and (c) by using privacy tools or browser extensions you have installed.

6.2 If you block or delete strictly-necessary cookies, parts of the website may not function. For other categories, blocking will limit or prevent the associated functionality but will not affect your ability to receive care from us.

6.3 For general information about controlling cookies, see allaboutcookies.org or the ICO's guidance at ico.org.uk.

07

Your Rights

Where cookies involve the processing of personal data, you have the rights set out in our Privacy Notice — including the right to withdraw consent, to request access to your data, and to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk, 0303 123 1113). Withdrawing consent is as simple as changing your cookie preferences via the footer link.

08

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time, for example if we change analytics providers or introduce new categories of cookie. The current version is always available on our website, and the version date at the top of this page shows when it was last updated. Where changes are material, we will re-prompt you through the cookie banner so that you can review and re-confirm your preferences.
