Dr Mike Fabricius is a GP with a background in surgery and urology and is the Clinical Director of Northern Medical Practitioners.
He works full time at Northern Medical, providing vasectomy procedures, joint injections, and minor skin surgery including mole removal, cyst removal and skin tag removal for patients across Newcastle and the North East.
Dr Fabricius graduated in medicine in 2006 and spent around ten years working in hospital surgery before retraining as a GP. His early training included foundation posts with a strong surgical focus followed by core surgical training in urology, intensive care and general surgery. He subsequently entered higher specialist training in urology, having ranked first nationally in the UK selection process that year.
During this period he was awarded a Cancer Research UK research fellowship at Newcastle University and the Northern Institute for Cancer Research. Alongside his research he remained clinically active in urology, continuing outpatient clinics and participating in the specialist registrar on-call rota.
He later completed GP training in the North East while maintaining a strong interest in procedural medicine, musculoskeletal medicine, and menβs health. During this time he held an honorary fellowship in fertility medicine at the International Centre for Life in Newcastle, where he received mentorship in vasectomy techniques.
Dr Fabricius became a GP partner in 2020. In this role he was the clinical lead for minor surgery and joint injection services within the practice and established an NHS vasectomy service, which he ran from 2021 to 2024.
